UNITEL Pictures’ “Crying Ladies,” starring Sharon Cuneta and directed by Mark Meily, has been chosen as the Philippine entry to the Oscars’ best foreign language film category next year.
So far, no Philippine film has made it to the finals in the Oscar best foreign language film category. Other local films which have been entered in the category are Tikoy Aguiluz’s “Segurista” (1997), Gil Portes’ “Gatas . . . Sa Dibdib ng Kaaway” (1999), “Markova: Comfort Gay” (2000), “Saranggola” (2001) and “Mga Munting Tinig” (2003), Marilou Diaz-Abaya’s “Sa Pusod ng Dagat” (1998) and Chito Roño’s “Dekada ‘70″ (2002).
