ABS-CBN’s marketing strategy nowadays seems to be to blur the distinction between the network and its competition. It lost the ratings war to GMA last mid September, and when it became clear that it is going to be more difficult to reclaim the top slot in the ratings game, the Kapamilya network employed a different strategy. Instead of insisting on the Kapamilya vs. Kapuso debate, ABS-CBN is now trying to say that there is no difference between the two channels.
And so we see Kris trying to talk about Rainier, Yasmien and Jennylyn. Of course they have a movie together, so they must make a buzz that they are together, but does Kris have to say that she watched Magpakailanman’s episode about Jennylyn?
And then to promote Ya Chang, they talk about Jopay. They did not talk about GMA 7 talents when they were promoting ABS-CBN talents before.
My stand? It should be viewers vs. the networks, not dos vs. siyete. ABS-CBN’s strategy is on level of confusing the viewers, not making them choose wisely. I hope the viewers notice this.
