Our own takes on the Philippine TV industry deserves a blog on its own, and so we have GetWise. TV Ratings will be posted there from now on so more important articles can be discussed in the Kapuso blog.

sa lahat ng mga kapuso! number 1 pa rin tayo…nakita ko yong ratings last friday and i think unti-unti nang hinahatak pababa ng stairway ang lovers…hehehehe well, it can’t be an overnight success…sometimes, it takes a week or two…bwahahahaha
for QUICKTIMER: ano yong sinabi mo na sa lahat ng kapuso “who are not at par with regine-nation at dhodjie” ay mag shut-up na lang? excuse me ha, blogger yata namin ito…we other kapusos may not be “at par” with our two best supporters but we belong here therefore we have the right to publish what we have to say, despite our “lack of intelligence” so to speak… mas mabuti yatang ikaw na lang ang mag shut up! bakit? u think you’re “at par” with them? kung kami nga(according to u) ay hindi, ikaw pa kaya? tse!
but then again, sabi nga ni alyanaganda, lahat kami mga kapuso ay matatalino kaya wala ka ng magagawa….sabihin mo na lahat ng gusto mong sabihin pero hindi pa rin mababago ang aming paniniwala na THE BEST ANG GMA!!! bleh!

Nabalitaan nyo ba kagabi na balak na naman magtaas ng singil ng kuryente. grabe naman ang mga lopez katataas lang nila last month.
Ang kuryente ko dati umaabot lang ng 2400 ngayon 3000+ na sya. Most of our earnings mapupunta nalang sa meralco. Kawawa naman ang ibang mamamayang pilipino na kumikita lang ng minimum wage pagkain hirap na nga sila baka hindi na sila makatikim ng lamig ng electric fan o mapanood ang paboritong palabas nila sa TV dahil naputulan na sila ng kuryente.
sobra naman ang mga lopez pati ang pagkalugi nila ay pinapapasa nila sa mga tao. wag na silang magbigay ng mataas na talent fee sa mga pinipirata nila sa GMA tingin ko binabawi nila ito sa kuryente sasabihin nila nalulugi sila. e pano sila di malulugi kung ano ano racket ang pinapasok nila or baka nagdadramadramahan lang sila na lugi sila para makadagdag nga sila ng singil at madagdagan ang kayaman nila.

felicity dear…good news for the mean time. THE COURT OF APPEALS rejected all together Meralco’s bid for increase electric bill rate. Last option nila ang Supreme Court. This is public welfare we are talking so let’s hope the Supremec Court will be on our side.

what i’m wondering about is how come ac nielsen’s pages like the equivalent of agb’s situationer is not as freely accessible and transparent as that of agb philippines?
looking at their profile tells us you need to be a paying subscriber to get the info you want. fishy eh? a kapamilyak posted in getwise page said….”mataas ang rating ng abs-cbn…pero bakit may bayad…sulit naman ang binayad…” something to that effect. a few days before, i get to come across an article about ac nielsen. a little old but disturbing. check this out.

The results of a survey paint a valid scenario when :
1) the set of questions are objective and logical;
2) the chosen respondents represent a good cross section of the population whose perceptiions the survey seeks to elicit;
3) the total number of respondents constitutes, at the very least, a simple majority of the population it is purported to represent.
When the respondents are a mere “7,230 consumers with Internet access in 12 countries in the Asia-Pacific” and the conclusion is that all the countries included in the survey favor globalization, there is more than enough room for doubt in the validity of the survey. Such is the nature of a recent AC Nielsen survey.
First of all, what is AC Nielsen and what does it do? AC Nielsen is a marketing information company.
Clients rely on ACNielsen’s market research, proprietary products, analytical tools and professional service to understand competitive performance, uncover new opportunities and to raise the profitability of their marketing and sales campaigns.
Underscore mine.
In other words, clients hire AC Nielsen to provide some kind of empirical data that tends to show that viable markets exist and the climate for profitability is ripe. But how do the results of a survey with a mere 7,230 respondents from 12 countries be passed off a conclusive? According to my trusty calculator, 7230 divided by 12 equals 602.5. That is assuming that the total number of reposndents were spread evenly among the 12 countries. And this is a generous assumption. In the case of the Philippines, is it reasonable to conclude that the opinions of 602, or 603 to round it off, people represent the opinions of the majority? Let me be even more generous and assume that all 7,230 respondents came from the Philippines. Is it safe to conclude that the opinions of 7,230 people the same as those of the rest of the 70M Filipinos? The answer is obvious.
Yet, AC Nielsen does come out with seemingly authoritative conclusions. How? It is a matter of packaging the results. Mention the figure 7,230 once or twice and never again. But keep repeating the results in terms of percentages and presto! The public remembers the percentages. A climate is created. Naturally, the media plays a big role in making such a thing possible. Consider the Manila Bulletin headline on this AC Nielsen survey : Filipinos favor opening up of RP to global competition The subliminal impact is simply tremendous.
Hence, I reiterate
Surveys are suspect because the results can be manipulated in several ways:
1. the way the questions are worded
2. the choices of location, subjects, manner of questioning and opportunity for substantiating the choices made
3. the prevailing atmosphere when the survey was conducted.
By the way, I should also mention that I have clicked on one of these AC Nielsen banner-invites to participate in a survey with a chance to win a brand new notebook computer. Nice, eh?
…somehow my own personal questions about the accessibility of ac nielsen has been answered by this article. the transparency of agb to the public is something to consider. just a thought.

di ba tv station community blog ito, bakit nadadawit meralco, maynilad? isama mo na rin kaya north luzon tollways corporation, medical city, rockwell….kung ayaw mo sa mga kompanyang iyan.. walang pumipilit sa inyo…ewan ko lang kung saan kayo pulutin!!

Alam kong basic needs ang electricity. Hindi tayo makakapanood ng favorite TV show natin kung wala nito.
But sad to say, Meralco (owned by Lopez) is a monopoly company.It means its an exclusive ownership and control over electricity. yung sinasabi mo na maghanap ako ng ibang power company. kahit sa panaginip wala. Meralco have the power to control electricity. Sabihin nila sa tao na ito bayaran mo wala na tayo magagawa dahil kung hindi natin babayaran mapuputulan naman tayo .
Ang sabi sa news magbibid palang sila para sa dagdag singil ng kuryente. pero kung susuriin mo ang electric bill nyo nagtaas na sila. I should know, im a homemaker. i monitor our electricity consumption.
At ito pa yung medical city na bago ( ortigas ) pag-aari na rin pala ng mga lopez yon. Affordable dati ang mga rates nila dahil doon ako nanganak. pero ngayon sobrang taas na nila maningil at tataas pa raw this year. sabi sa ads nila na same rate at affordable pa rin sila but the truth is hindi. pangmayaman nalang ang medical city. sayang!!! magagaling talaga ang mga doctor dito ang maseserbisyuhan lang nila ay mga may pera.
Sabi ng ABS-CBN sa slogan nila to give true service to Filipino people. Si Lopez ang ama ng ABS so kung totoo talagang gusto nilang tulungan ang mga mamayang pilipino sana gawin nila. Hindi lang sa TV station company nila kung hindi sa iba pa nilang kumpanya
like meralco and medical city.
Ano ba namang ibigay nila yung nararapat makatarungan at tamang singil sa mga tao. di ba po.
Ginagamit nila ang TV station nila para maging mabango sila sa paningin ng tao para mapagtakpan ang kumpanya nila na walang inisip kung hindi ang kumita.

From now on titigil na ako sa pagpatol sa mga issue na binabato ng mga pro-ABS. Wala rin naman mangyayari. at kahit anong sabihin nila mga paninira, panlalait at masasama about GMA shows hindi nila ako macoconvince na mas quality, entertaining at credible ang mga shows ng channel 2.
Since kapuso blog ito, may i comment lang sa bagong show ng Stairway to heaven. walang aangal kasi opinion ko ito.
Maganda ang pilot episode ng Stairway yun nga lang medyo mabigat sa puso kasi sobrang grabe at sama ng ginawa ni Eunice sa stepsister nyang si Jodi. Nakakainis talaga yung kontrabida. parang hindi ako makahinga. Lahat kami dito sa bahay parang tumahimik parang hindi nakareact sa sobrang kasamaan ni Eunice. Tapos nashock kami pati pala yung step mom monster rin pala.
Pero super ganda ng twist ng story at super nakakakilig

good day mga kapuso! i hope this blogger will not be contaminated with those kapamilya people ha. really, they’re getting to be so irritating. anyways, with regards to that survey thing, i agree with what our kapuso posted here, surveys should present the general opinion of the people right? hence, if the number of their respondents are too small it’s not safe to assume that the results are the general opinion of the entire population. the higher the number of respondents the more reliable is the result.

i heard that the kapamilya network got mad kc GMA daw is spreading rumors that the ending of LIP is really not good and that they would reshoot it. huh? e ba’t hindi nabago yung ending? and one more thing, it’s unfair to say that GMA is the one spreading this rumor because if u search the Net it is the Korean fans themselves who are giving their views about the said koreanovela so this accusation is false and baseless.
as for stairway to heaven, so far kilig factor ang mga episodes and i love EUNICE! she’s an effective kontrabida wouldn’t you say?pero sa totoo lang pansin ko sa ending ng mga koreanovela hindi as grand kapag pinoy ang gumawa. parang ang simple like the ending of winter sonata but one thing i like about the writers hindi takot gumawa ng tragic endings like endless love 1. i hope that the pinoy viewers would learn to watch movies/drama anthologies/plays like this. after all, romeo and juliet is a tragic story but definitely a classic. most of the times the movies that would really leave an impression are the ones that have tragic endings. ’til next time mga kapuso. ciao!;)

Ito ang katanungang sumambulat sa mga naglabasang balita tungkol sa mga pinagagawa ng ABS-CBN at ng mga may-ari nito upang pagtakpan ang mga kasong kinakaharap nina Sandara Park, Korina Sanchez at Cristy Fermin. Lumabas ang mga nasabing balita sa Internet at sa mga sandaling ito ay hindi na mapakali ang ABS-CBN management kung paano pabubulaanan ang mga naturang balita.

For 4months, superbaba ang ratings nyo against ss! kumpara sa one day goodmark ng scq! haay naku, nagpapabango nanaman ang scq dahil baka mawalan sila ng audience sa finals nila! remember, maghahatak sila ng mga guests ng abscbn para puntahan ang finals nila!
Araneta will always be StarStruck’s permanent venue! Di kami paiba iba! Speaking of SM Cinema venue nung final6, lastyear din dun din ginawa! Umapaw hanggang labas ng sinehan ang mga tao! hey guys! well, what else is new? im not saying that i down right believe the news article about abs-cbn…but then, it is very likely because the credibility of abs-cbn’s news and public affairs have taken a plunge…im actually a pro-GMA(the president) but abs-cbn, being in the media, particularly in broadcasting should not be biased in their reports and news items, like what they have done during the election campaign period because it shows their unprofessionalism…..unlike GMA 7, they were very neutral during the campaign, which makes them more appealing to the viewing public…so….

E anu ngayon kung masmarami silang commercials? yung companies naman na kumuha sa kanila pinipili parin ang siete para i-air ang commercials nila. saka artista nyo nga umaabot na sa ibang channels. tingnan mo nga pati artista ng dos lumalabas sa siete (extra challenge) dahil alam nilang mas maraming nanonood sa 7 kesa sa 2?

i try to refrain from joining this blog (and going against some pretty mean, venom-spitting bloggers – who they are, i leave that for you guys to decide).
here’s my one cent worth of contribution though. i AM interested in is professional journalism in tv. and this involves looking into matters that concern the ordinary tao. and i mean DEEPER stuff, SERIOUS journalism that looks into details to question integrity and competency. its nothing short of defying everything (even going up against pretty big names or companies) if it means exposing the truth.

having 30 news shows for abs is just like reformatting a hard disk in a computer and installing new softwares to make it more functional and effective..
however if same old programs with same old concepts will be installed..they are USELESS…
GMA manggagaya..but what’s good about them copying shows from the rival network is that they make sure na kung ano man yong ginaya nila ay siguradong dinagdagan at iniimpove nila ang concepts nong ginaya nila..while ABS pagnanggaya..sure lahat COPY..kulang na lang kopyahin pati ang mga names ng bumubuo ng show..
and so, no one can say na gaya-gaya ang ABS sa GMA and vise versa..pareho lang sila..the only difference is that GMA knows how to improvised the concepts and ideas of the show that they have copied and make sure na interesting panoorin ang newly conceptualized show…

at kahit ano man ang sabihin nila na natalbugan na nila sa ratings ang NO.1 telefantasya(MULAWIN) ay nagkakamali sila, dahil halos lahat ay nanonood at di makabitiw sa unique story ng Mulawin…kahit medyo may sinusunod silang story, is just to make Filipino Trademark in creating high quality shows worth to watch, hopefully there’s a sequel of the Telefantasy because the mass loved it, at sure na hahanap-hanapin iyan, and also a movie version and i’m sure na maghihit …because dito sa amin, no.1 ang Mulawin sa mga viewers.
hindi muna ako magsasalita about sa mga paninira ng kabila sa Kapuso Network, because i’m collecting facts to prove that GMA shows are still reigning in the ratings game, but it’s not on how the show is doing in the ratings, but on the quality of this show to be more watchful…

tatapatan ni Regine Tolentino, ang Kamao ni Robin ay tatapatan ng
isang reality show about wrestling, ang SN1 ng dos ay tatapatan ng
talk show na pagbibidahan ng paborito nilang host ng talk show
kasama ni Melanie Marquez at marami pang iba. Sinabi rin ng writer
ng buzz sa portion na yon na “ANO BA KAYO MAG-ISIP NAMAN KAYO HIRAP

show na ginagawa ng ABS para mabigyan lang ng kasiyahan ang kanilang

Totoo man o hindi ang ginagawang ito ng kalabang network,
nakakalungkot isipin na pag sila ang nanggagaya parang okay lang

Nakakalungkot rin na ang mundo ng television na dati’y

Then instead of going for the back page of the postcard to write something, you should first decorate the front page. You may do anything you like here like drawing pointy horns on (hiro/sandarac/joros/melesa/roxam)’S head, you may also use the colored pen to draw realistic blood on their oral cavities, make their eyes to a bloodshot color, and turn their clothing to rags and stuff. After this you may now write a message at the back of it. Then after all of these you have done, you can now crumple it and then throw it to the trash box. By this manner, you are now very secure that it will reach the dumpsite where scavengers could have it. O see?
II. Expose them to oxygen and heat to form combustion…
>In this activity, all you require are the postcards, a match box or a lighter, and a candle. (CAUTION: PLEASE DO THIS IN AN OPEN AREA) First get a hold of the postcards, and then carefully light the candle with your match or lighter. After you have done this carefully hold the postcard/s at the top left if or right depending on your usage of hand and the candle in a stable position beneath it. Once it will start to burn carefully let it rest in a standing/ slanting position against a wall or anything to let the fire go up.
Once it burns completely, you can now clean the area your working in. o see?
III. Make it into a nice drink…
>Actually this is an optional activity after you have burned those stupid postcards. Well anyway, once it all completely burns, take all what’s left of it (the ashes) into a blender. Ang alam ko kasi, Kapuso Blog ito, pero bakit may mga naliligaw?Nakakainis na talaga..Everytime na bumibisita ako sa site na ‘to, palaging may mga kaaway na napapadpad, dinudumihan lang ang kapuso blogspot. Hay, sana naman tigilan na nila, doon na lang sana sa sarili nilang blogger magpunta. Ang problema kasi, yung iba sa kanila, mabababaw.
Nabasa ko yung mga comments tungkol sa pag-launch ng GMA ng Int’l Channel, somebody suggested na bakit hindi muna unahin ang mga local station affiliates ng GMA sa mga provicial areas. Ang masasabi ko lang, punta po kayo ng http://www.igma.tv, click Corporate Affairs then Press release, dun nyo po makikita na on-going na ang pag-upgrade ng mga Stations sa Visayas region esp. sa Cebu. Dun naman po sa 30 new Shows ng ABS-CBN, ang masasabi ko lang, goodluck! Sana palarin kayo. Basta ang alam ko pag nagpapalit ka ng shows, ibig sabihin, nagsasawa na ang tao sa luma, kaya ang nangyayari, nalalaos. Fine, pareho na sila kung parehas, pero sino ang worst manggaya?
Ito lang ang masasabi ko, sa isang competition, may panalo at may talo, sana naman, matanggap na nila na hindi na nila time to shine, dahil mas malakas na ngayon ang GMA.
Alam ko after nyo mabasa itong comment ko, may mga mag-rereact dyan, manggagalaiti, baka nga may magmumura pa sa akin eh, pero pag ginawa nyo yun, pinapakita nyo lang kung anong klaseng tao kayo. Sa bawat maruruming salita na lalabas sa mga bibig natin, katumbas nun eh yung kung anong ugali meron tayo. Kung anong klaseng environment yung kinalakihan natin. Nakabibingi ang dagundong at tilian ng fans sa Grand Questor’s Night ng Star Circle National Teen Quest sa ULTRA last Saturday. Halos buong bansa ay nakatutok tha night at inabangan kung sino ang mananalo bilang grand questor sa season two ng SCQ.
Mas mataray ang kabuuan ng presentation ngayon ng grand questor’s night kumpara nu’ng nakaraang taon.
Bukod sa ULTRA, may live coverage rin sila from as far as Davao to Tarlac. Magaganda at nakaaaaliw ang production numbers mula kina Charles Christianson, Paw Diaz, DM Sevilla, Erich Gancayco at Arron Villaflor. Although mas marami ang nagkagusto sa ginawa ni DM na nag-ala Masculados siya with matching red-sequenced shorts. Effect din ang paglipad-lipad ni Arron sa stage habang naka-harness.

Gaya ng inaasahan, si Erich ang tinanghal na grand questor. Halos ‘di pa rin makapaniwala si Erich na siya na nga ang winner habang kausap namin sa late-dinner celebration ng SCNTQ sa Bagaberde.
Four million worth of cash and contract ang napanalunan ni Erich. So far, ito na ang pinakamalaking papremyo ngayon sa isang contest, huh.
Excited tuloy si Erich na makabili na ng bahay para sa kanyang pamilya rito sa Maynila.
Palabas na kami ng Bagaberde nang masalubong namin si Hero Angeles na nagmamadali. Pinatawag daw siya du’n para batiin ang kapwa niya grand questor na si Erich.
Parang kuya-kuya kasi ni Erich si Hero bagaman pilit na ginagawan sila ng intriga.
“Close friends lang kami,” diin ni Hero.
Taliwas sa sinasabi ng iba na ititigil na ng Dos ang kanilang talent search, isang executive ng network ang nagsabi na itutuloy pa rin nila ang SCQ. Pero maymga babaguhin at iimprove para mas lalong gumanda.
Reality-based pa rin ang dating ng search, pero may idaragdag sila sa title. Pero baka gawin nila ito ulit after two years.
Sobrang bilis daw kasi ng isang taon para ma-enjoy to the fullest ng grand questors ang kasikatan and then, may iba na naman agad pagtutuunan ng pansin ang mga tagahanga.

Geographically megamanila/metro manila has bigger population and household. In it you locate the biggest businesses in the country. The very seat of the government of this nation is in megamanila. So you can imagine(which i doubt with your puny brain) the impact it has is more than any other city or locale in the country. The biggest income is in megamanila/metro manila, and therefore the highest purchasing power is here (which is the factor advertisers are always considering, the advertisers that supports the very existence of tv networks). even if davao city is the biggest in the world in terms of area (which is really not as per Guiness), it’s economic performance are relatively laid back compared to Megamanila. Metro Cebu isn’t big either. I’ve been there. Metro Cebu- includes Toledo, Mandaue, Lahug, Cebu City among others right? Metro Manila includes more cities and municipalities than metro cebu. megamanila extends to nearby provinces around metro manila. with that, think of how big a factor it is when a TV network captured the bulk of tv ratings in that area alone.
Second, if the Buzz and the rest of the abs-cbn, as well as kayo mga kapamilyaks are so confident in what you can achieve starting with these 30 new shows you’re all been hyping and throating about, why does it seems you’re so threaten by gma7’s moves to counter your plans? 30 new shows against 5 news of gma7? the odds should be at your side but why are you all so bothered that the Buzz have to prattle it on their show. Apparently, it all boils down- the network war is not just a matter of originality. Imitation is there but who gets to do it and come out with a better idea ultimately wins in the end. that is the end game.
Pwedeng ninyong ilista what shows copies what. No crime in imitating one show. the question is which is better.

It will be remembered as perhaps one of the lowest points in local TV journalism history: an anchor of a top network losing command and control of an interview during the live broadcast of a running political story.
The scene of the disaster was the wake of action star Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) last December 16. ABS-CBN anchor Karen Davila cried on air after being rebuked by actress Susan Roces for her network’s alleged partisanship in its election coverage last year. Davila apologized on behalf of everybody in the station for whatever pain they might have caused the widowed actress.
Davila’s apology was a major issue for network bosses and employees alike who strongly felt that it was unnecessary. Others protested against Davila’s self-appointment as their spokesperson.
The incident is only one of many tension points that have contributed to internal grumbling within the media organization. Hobbled by intrigue, skepticism, and intense politicking, ABS-CBN is now under pressure to reclaim the No. 1 spot it lost to rival GMA-7 in the Mega Manila area.
A new team has been tasked to lead and set directions for the media conglomerate that must compete more aggressively to once again be the best in broadcast journalism.
Dominant for years and formerly anchored solo by Vice President Noli de Castro, ABS-CBN’s flagship program, “TV Patrol,” slid to No. 2 in September last year. The drop was symbolic as it signaled the decline of the network as well.
At its peak, the news program—tagged as the “gateway to prime time”—recorded ratings as high as 35 percent compared to GMA-7’s 10 percent. One rating point is said to be equivalent to over 35,000 TV households in mega Manila.
Politics & Power
ABS-CBN, which has been a political launching pad for the likes of De Castro and former Sen. Loren Legarda, dictated prime-time advertising rates and projected an international presence through its global operations.
The power it wielded was tremendous—anchors championed both on TV and radio their personal causes, while ordinary citizens looked upon the broadcast station as a mediator that could push the government from its inertia. All these translated to higher earnings and greater clout for the network.
Before long, ABS-CBN became a corporate entity whose owner had strong political connections and business interests to protect. Meanwhile, GMA-7 repackaged itself as the network with a heart, “Kapuso,” and slowly but surely eroded “Patrol’s” symbolic supremacy, and along with it, ABS-CBN’s market dominance.
In the third quarter of last year, ABS-CBN’s net profits fell to P174 million, a sharp decline from P381.8 million in the same period the year before. For the first three quarters of 2004, it registered earnings of P735 million, lower than GMA-7’s P1 billion-plus.
The signs were there, but ABS-CBN officials were in denial. Insiders admit the network became too comfortable with its star-oriented formula concocted by long-time president Freddie Garcia, who pushed entertainment to new heights.
The bias for entertainment was applied to news and current affairs programs that were hosted by pretty and handsome faces. Face value—more than credibility and authority honed in the field—became a top criterion for the choice of news anchors.
‘Slow Burn’
So intoxicating had power and success become that the network was lulled into complacency: it failed to innovate and missed new phenomena such as the emergence of reality TV in the entertainment field, and it failed to keep in step with viewer preferences in news that had started to shift with time. The competition saw ahead of ABS-CBN that the pretty faces era in local TV newscasts was coming to an end.
Against this backdrop, the imperative to rebound and quickly close the gap with GMA-7 became strong. On November 22, ABS reformatted “TV Patrol,” put in new anchors and new segments and eagerly awaited viewer reaction. By then it had come up with its “Kapamilya” tag, its counterpart to GMA-7’s “Kapuso.”
The new “TV Patrol World” (TVP World) with anchors Davila, former congressman Ted Failon, and Julius Babao, however, proved to be a “slow-burn,” according to an inter-office memo. Ratings remained below average at 19.8 percent since the September decline.
“This occurred despite several major news stories during “TVP World’s” pilot week such as the release of Angelito Nayan and his return to the Philippines, nationwide transport strike, as well as the aftermath of typhoons Unding and Violeta,” the memo says.
Improvements in ratings caused by coverage of super typhoons Winnie and Yoyong and FPJ’s death and funeral were not sustained. GMA-7’s 24 Oras still performed better until December 15, the night before the fateful Roces interview.
GMA-7 was quick to react to “TVP World’s” December 15 lead in Mega Manila. It dispatched a whole gang of news personalities led by Jessica Soho, Mel Tiangco, and Lolit Solis that descended upon Poe’s funeral on December 16.
The networks jostled to be first to bag the Roces interview and GMA-7 outdid ABS-CBN.
The Interview
Davila had strict instructions to get a live interview with Susan Roces. And to her credit, she did.
She began by saying how lucky they were to be granted an interview by Roces on her 36th wedding anniversary. She touched on inanities such as Roces using her deceased husband’s perfume and her wearing his socks on that special day. This, Davila says, was part of her effort to start on a light note.
“Ang hindi niyo po alam ay suot din niya ang medyas ni FPJ. Eto ba, ma’am, hindi kayo mao-offend kung papakita ko po ‘yung medyas?” the news anchor asked. (What you don’t know is that she is also wearing the socks of FPJ. Won’t you be offended, ma’am, if I showed your socks to the camera?)
The tattle ran for close to 10 minutes, navigated various twists and turns, before leading up to the unexpected. From a giggly interviewee who reminisced about her courtship days at the start, Roces turned into an angry but composed woman toward the end of the 30-minute live interview.
“Sabi nga nila gusto ninyo akong interbyuhin. Sabi nga ninyo, ‘Bakit mailap si FPJ sa press?’ Sino pa po ang magpapaabot sa inyo, sino pa po ang magpapaintindi sa inyo, lalo na kayo sa inyong istasyon. Parang nagtataka kayo bakit ganyan ang reaksyon. Kailangan maging sensitibo kayo sa damdamin ng tao. We can see through when we watch the news on TV. We can see what is true and what is fake.” (They said you wanted to interview me. You asked why FPJ evaded the press. Who else will tell you, who else will let you understand, especially those in your station? You wonder about the people’s reaction. You need to be sensitive to the feelings of people.)
Obviously unprepared for the frontal attack, Davila, whose voice began to crack at this point of the interview, replied, “Ma’am ako po, right now po, sa panayam pong ito, I would like to extend in whatever way we have hurt you (sic), and I am doing this personally. I am truly sorry for any offense we caused you, ma’am, but I really appreciate the kindness you have shown me in the last few days.”
All fired up, Roces complained about the ABS-CBN election forecasts and the crowds at her husband’s rallies not being shown in the newscasts. “The day will come when you will experience what we had to go through. Just to up the ratings, nananapak kayo, that’s not very nice. Masama ang loob ko sa inyo, Channel 2.”
Instead of trying to explain that the network simply reported the results of exit polls conducted by the Social Weather Stations, run by Mahar Mangahas, a cousin of Poe, Davila accepted all the accusations and apologized.
“I am humbly, ma’am, right now letting you know na humihingi lang po ako ng patawad in behalf of everybody that has caused this pain in any way,” the anchor said.
The ABS-CBN newsroom was stunned. While some of the managers wanted to shout “Cut!” big boss Gabby Lopez, who was watching the news at the time, decided to continue airing the interview, anticipating that they would have gotten more flak from the viewers had they cut it.

The impact of the sloppily handled interview was immediate. From a 29.2 percent rating the night before, “TVP World” dropped to 25.8 percent that night. The aftershocks continued as ratings slipped further to 22.8 percent and then to 22.1 percent by December 20.
It was probably the worst thing that could happen to ABS-CBN at that time.
For the month of December, GMA-7 recorded a total day (6 a.m. to 12 midnight) overall channel rating of 18.1 percent in Mega Manila as compared to ABS-CBN’s 13.9-percent, according to AGB Philippines. Nielsen Media Philippines reported similar findings, with GMA-7 getting 14.3 percent and ABS-CBN recording 10.7 percent. Both outfits monitor and measure TV audience behavior.
GMA-7 also began to register a wider audience share. Audience share, according to AGB Philippines, is the “percentage of total television viewing across a specified time interval of a given channel or program.” Ratings refer to the percentage of a given population watching TV at a particular moment.
ABS-CBN president and chief operating officer Luis “Cito” Alejandro told NEWSBREAK that he, too, was displeased with Davila’s interview. He spoke to her in private and scolded her. “That was all wrong, Karen. You made a mistake,” he admonished her.
He said he had only two options: to keep her or to fire her. “There was no middle ground for me. We said, ‘Okay, you will learn from this, we want to keep you right now. This thing happens again, it’s an entirely different story.’”
Davila admits she made a mistake. “I handled it in a personal capacity and not in a professional manner. I acknowledge it was a learning experience. I really could have done better.” The following day, she wrote her bosses to tell them she was prepared to take the consequences of her action.
All too aware of how harsh live television can be, Alejandro acknowledges that the responsibility lies not just with the anchor, but with the entire news organization itself. Those in charge of the newscast could have instructed her to divert or to cut, or at the very least, helped her with the questions.
None of those happened. Instead, those in charge simply ordered her to “extend, extend.” The interview dragged on because Davila says she was instructed to allow Roces to speak. The lack of support, combined with what appears to be the unpreparedness of the anchor to deal with a hostile situation, had dire consequences.
Some long-timers at the network were aghast at what seemed to them like management’s kid-glove treatment of Davila. The resentment comes partly from her still being regarded as an outsider pirated from GMA-7.
Admittedly, the entry of former GMA-7 hires created a lot of tension and dislike within the media organization, and this is something that the new management team of Alejandro, Luchi Cruz Valdez, vice president for current affairs and training, and training consultant Maria Ressa wants to fix.
Patrol World
For now, focus is being given to “TVP World” even as a new set of entertainment programs and a reformatted late night news program are expected to be aired very soon.
Network insiders say that if plans are on track, a repackaged “Insider” will have ABS-CBN veterans Ces Drilon and Ricardo “Dong” Puno as anchors. It will combine news and current affairs in one program and show more analysis and perspective in the news.
“TVP World” meanwhile, seeks to build on what Alejandro refers to as an equity statement—“Patrol ng Pilipino” or being in the service of the Filipino people. Equity, the marketing man explains, is a value proposition that a product, such as a news program, can claim as its own.
Wanting to veer away from the tabloid orientation of its predecessor, the new team wants to position the newscast in such a way that it prepares viewers to understand and make decisions on their own based on information that is provided by reporters. Thus, “TVP World” will “not just be about local news” but will bring a foreign perspective to its viewers as well.
This coincides with results of a focus group discussion (FGD) conducted by the network’s research unit. They found that there is growing interest in foreign news owing to stories about terrorism and the increasing number of overseas Filipino workers.
Another new segment of “TVP World” that received positive feedback was “Citizen’s Patrol,” which shows ordinary citizens serving as reporters of community problems. However, journalists will assert that untrained citizens should not be allowed to report the news; the task is best left to the experts.
In the coverage of the super typhoons and the landslides that hit Real, Quezon, ABS-CBN reporters were shown on camera holding and touching interviewees and distributing relief goods to victims.
Valdez says this is also part of the equity. It is “going beyond journalism and into public service. It is the call of the times…. More than giving information, we should help others when we can.”
Some reporters felt that what they were being asked to do was no longer journalism because they would have become part of the story. Helping those in need, need not be shown on camera, they say, because it calls attention to them rather than the real story. This is redefining the basics of journalism, they point out.
Alejandro reasons that staging the attempt to help is what makes the act wrong and that showing images of reporters helping the needy “builds affinity” for them and concretizes the “Kapamilya” tag.
This is critical for a network that has been perceived by viewers as having become aloof and arrogant. In the FGDs, participants said they want news personalities to be “credible, brave, approachable, clear, and presentable.”
Cynics within the organization say that “no amount of sloganeering, branding, or equity” will stem the decline in ratings. What is badly needed, they say, is to develop reporters, “to train them well to go get the story and tell it well.” It is about building credibility.
There seems to be no conflict here as far as Ressa is concerned. “It isn’t different from what you’re doing as a journalist. What it is, is just requiring you to focus on your higher mission. The higher mission is to hold leaders, institutions, people accountable. I don’t think there is a disconnect between ‘in the service of the Filipino people’ and the values of journalism. It’s not a slogan, it’s your purpose.”
Rebuilding
In the past 19 years or so, ABS-CBN’s news and current affairs department has undergone about 13 leadership changes. This has been very unsettling for an organization that must compete on a regular basis. It has meant for its people shifting directions midstream several times and having to adopt various modes of survival, not knowing what the next leadership change will bring.
Alejandro, who has worked with multinational companies, wants to professionalize the network’s organization. “We have to make sure that there is effective succession planning among our reporters and anchors. That’s where we’re headed: to create career paths for them.”
In the past, appointments had been influenced by politics and favoritism. This was among the issues that the old-timers had raised with the new management. The setup, they point out, was strangely feudal.
When De Castro left, his departure created such a vacuum. “Can you imagine that? If everything is so premised on a character? How many Noli de Castros can we churn out?” Alejandro asks.
Sustainability and rationality lie at the core of the plan. In a field where talent can be scarce, people development is among the top priorities, Alejandro explains.
“Where we’re headed is excellent journalism. They’re going to be held to much higher standards. Reporters should be reporting the story and that is where their energy and focus should be,” Ressa asserts.
Having been through countless letdowns already, the network’s staff can only hope and wish that this time around goals that had been set would be met and that promises made would actually be kept.

latest TV ratings shows that GMA still dominates Philippine Television. It was so amazing that even the other network launched some of their new shows, it is still GMA programs that tops the surveys. And the rumors regarding the threat that GMA 7 has to come up with new shows so that it can compete with the so called new shows of the rival station was completely overcomed by the GMA shows by showing that their current programs are still rating and the threat has bounced back to the rival station. As a result, some of the think tanks of ABS has to squeeze their brains again to come up to another ideas to defeat the rival station. But those so called think tanks of ABS cannot even come up with a brighter idea. Instead of having greats new shows, they are only copyng the old ideas/formats of the past shows of ABS that on their time are dominating the Filipino TV. So, what are the use of these think tanks if the can’t even create a unique one? they are just waste…Another issue…ABS-CBN has come up with a new President….their COO/Shief operating officer….Mr. Alejandro if i’m not mistaking…so whats the meaning of this? Is Gabby Lopez not that efficient anymore? and if i may add…last thurday Magpakailanman left behind the longest drama anthology of ABS MMK miles away with a rate of 25.3%(MKM) against the 13.5% of MMK…so i have a message for those who are still keeping their eyes closed with reality that ABS is still no. 1…the latest TV ratings will show that you are very very wrong!!! i know…it really hurts but you must accept it not because i want you to but that’s reality…

I stumbled upon this blog while I was doing research about GMA 7’s going international. I am a TFC subscriber and I’m satisfied with the shows of ABS-CBN. But if GMA is going to be shown also, I wouldn’t mind subscribing to it as well. Nakaka-miss ang mga shows sa Pinas in general kaya anything Pilipino, pinapanood ko. I really don’t understand this war of the networks. I’m for healthy competition pero I think the war is unneccessary. The maanghang na palitan ng words, saying who got the best shows, who’s #1 in the ratings, di na kelangan yan. Let us just enjoy their shows and there’s no need to fight over this. Who’s to say kung sinong gumagaya or kung saang network galing yung isang artista. Sa observation ko naman paikot-ikot lang yung mga artista. Example na lang Eat Bulaga, ilang networks na rin ang pinuntahan nyan di ba. Richard Gomez used to be in ABS din with Palibhasa Lalake. So kung ako sa inyo, wag ng magalit kung hindi kasing-opinyon nyo ang isang tao. Respetuhin nyo na lang ang opinyo ng isa’t isa para di na nagkaka-initan ng ulo…it’s just not worth it.

i missed the last two episodes of Mulawin because i was busy for the Youth Power Event. Although i missed the episodes, It would not be comparable to what i experienced at the Youth Power at the World Trade Center Saturday night. I met DENNIS TRILLO! GABRIEL in PERSON! I was able to chat with him a bit (told him how i critically acclaim mulawin), take his picture (solo and with me) and autograph as well! WOW! I’m so fortunate to be a volunteer organizer that i had a backstage privelege. I escorted him, with Maybelyn dela Cruz for the event. He looks taller and definitely better in person than on TV. Not only him, I also got introduced to very aesthetically blessed Karylle, Sherwin Ordonez, Biboy Ramirez and Jolina Magdangal. Thank you to the Kapuso Artists for gracing our Youth Power Event for FREE. They made it truly special for all of us, especially for me. Really a once in a lifetime memory of perks and bliss. I would develop the pictures soon!

UMARANGKADA nang husto sa takilya ang pagbabalik sa pelikula ng GMA Films thru the youth orien-ted love story na LET THE LOVE BEGIN nina Richard Gutierrez, Angel Locsin, Jennylyn Mercado at Mark Herras na nag-open kaha-pon kasabay ng Star Cinema movie na Dreamboy.
Nag-text kami sa isang certified booker ng mga movies at tinanong kung alin sa dalawang movie ang mas malakas sa first hours nito sa mga sinehan.
Text back ng tinanong namin: “4x better ang Let The Love Begin.”
Nothing personal against the Piolo Pascual project pero mas marami kaming narinig na positibo sa project ng GMA Films.
Eh, sa pahayag ng isang MTRCB member na parehong napanood ang pelikula, mas makatotohanan daw ‘yung mga lambingan nina Richard at Angel. Kasi nga, loveteam talaga ang pagbenta sa kanila sa movie.
‘Yung Dreamboy raw, kulang sa chemistry sina Piolo at Bea Alonzo. Hindi kapanipaniwala ang pagmamahalan nila komo nga identified si Bea kay John Lloyd Cruz.
Sa premiere night ng movie sa SM Megamall na pareho naming nasilip sa news program ng magkala-bang network, ‘di hamak na mas marami ang taong dumagsa sa premiere ng Let The Love Begin kumpara sa Dreamboy.
Tapos, ayon sa nakapanood sa premiere ng dalawang movies, mas malakas ang mga tili ng mga fans kapag lumabas sa screen ang mukha ng mga bida sa GMA project. Iilan lang daw ‘yung fans na tumitili sa Star Ci-nema vehicle!
May mga instances pa ngang natutulog ang ilang tao sa premiere ng Dreamboy, huh!
Saka mahirap daw intin-dihin ang Dreamboy. Isa pala itong reality movie. Kaya dapat simulan daw ito pa-ra malaman kung bakit tatlo ang characters ni Piolo.
May cameo role nga si John Lloyd Cruz sa ending ng movie pero wala silang eksena ng ka-loveteam na si Bea!
Well, the success of GMA Films’ Let The Love Begin ay patunay lang na nasa kanila pa rin ang momentum ngayong taong ito, hindi lang sa telebisyon kundi maging sa pelikula na rin.
But we will still see both films upang malaman kung aling pelikula ang better crafted, huh!

Kaya nga tama lang ang naging pahayag ni Ms. Susan Roces na mahilig magpabango ang dos! Mabaho na kayo sa tao. kaya wala ng naniniwala sa inyo!
KARMA talaga ang abscbn.. kaya hala! sige! bumira pa kayo! Minsan lang kayo magfeature sa mga kapuso stars, NEGATIVE pa ang dating! Sobrang sama! Lahat gagawin nyo kahit na anong mangyari! Ginawa na ba ng GMA yan? Never! Kung meron man, TOTOO lang! at hindi gumagawa ng intriga gaya ng dos para masira lang sa publiko! Did GMA make negative intrigues kila Juday before? Wala! HETO PA GUYS. last tuesday, when i watch Kung Fu Hustle at SM Mega Cinema 7 (which is totally devoid of pipol kaya walang hustle), eh nagkataon naman nuknukan ang dami ng nakaline na miron dun sa premiere night ng Dreamboy. Kala ko naman lahat nyon papasok. They were awaiting the arrival of Piolo. crowd was getting restless. Then, naghiyawan na ang tao when Piolo arrived, but as soon as the guy disappeared behind the cinema door, hayun, mas marami pa ang nadisperse kesa sa pumasok sa sinehan. natawa tuloy ako. they were just there to see who are the artists that will grace the event. poor Piolo!
For all his handsome looks, still the movie isn’t going great at the tills!

The network war has spilled over to the big screen with ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema and Channel 7’s GMA Films each fielding a pre-Valentine’s Day presentation that both opened in Metro Manila theaters yesterday.
Star Cinema’s pre-Valentine offering is Dreamboy, a Gilbert Perez film that has for a leading lady, Bea Alonzo. Bea plays a Price Smart sales clerk under the care of her doting grandmother (Nova Villa).
Bea’s life is pretty normal until she catches the fancy of Philip Ong (Piolo Pascual), the son of the owner of Price Smart. On their first meeting, Philip immediately takes her out to lunch and pulls out all the stops – the most impeccable of table settings, the finest foods, the works. But somehow you notice that for all his money, Philip wears an ill-fitting coat.
Next he picks her up in a stretch limo and they spend an entire day in the lap of luxury in Subic – which they close to the public for their private use. Again, you notice that with all his wealth, Philip is unable to buy correct and proper diction. And then, the viewer starts wondering: Is this really Piolo Pascual I am watching on the screen? He is bad and looks so uncomfortable.
You then begin weighing things. You can’t blame the guy, given the mushy dialogues and the horrible scenes he has to play. But surely, if he is a good actor, he should be able to rise above such preposterous material. Too bad, he doesn’t and sinks miserably along with the atrocious script. At this point, you want to write the various local award-giving bodies to start taking back his grand-slam win in 2002 for Dekada ’70.
The viewer also begins to wonder what has become of Star Cinema. Lousy screenplay, inconsistent actor – why, even the production design is bad. In one scene where the rich boy Philip goes home, his bedroom – from the floor (fake wood parquet!) to the fixtures – is unimpressive.
So far, the only saving grace is Bea Alonzo, a young actress I began to admire for her acting talent in Now that I Have You. In Dreamboy, only she and Nova Villa give decent performances in that part of the movie.
Bea is particularly effective in the party sequence where Philip’s wealthy aunt (Lui Manansala) in the traditional Pinoy soap opera looks at her from head to toe and questions her intentions for going out with the rich boy. Hurt, she expectedly banishes Philip from her life.
Enter a new character named Eboy who looks exactly like Philip. They even have the same mole on the temple, except that the mole is covered by a piece of plaster. It is easy to justify that plaster strip because Eboy is the rugged and athletic type who must be getting into a lot of little accidents as he engages in various physical activities (cycling, running, rock climbing, etc.)
To the viewer’s relief, Piolo as Eboy looks more at ease now. At last, Piolo, the good actor we’ve always known him to be, is back. Bea Alonzo is still consistent with her performance. Someday, I’m sure she’ll also start reaping acting trophies in the various awards derbies.
Even the movie is starting to shape up at this point and the viewer is starting to enjoy it.
Confusion, however, sets in again when a third Piolo look-alike appears – along with the mole on the temple (or is it just near the temple?). The character’s name this time is Jaime, a restaurant employee.
The viewer now gets annoyed. Even Bea Alonzo is annoyed. Then – wham! – the big revelation. We finally see what the movie is all about and why Piolo Pascual plays three characters. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the film’s big secret because that will spoil the viewing pleasure of the others who have yet to see Dreamboy. But it ties everything together – cleverly. Everything begins to make sense.
All of a sudden, you understand why Piolo is acting badly (it’s intentional and on purpose) and oh so hopelessly stiff in his role as the rich Philip Ong (I’m glad he didn’t lose his acting talent, after all – he really is such an acting genius) and why such atrocious scenes had to be staged in the early part of Dreamboy. Even the erroneous production design I pointed out earlier is explained. I take back what I said. The production design is brilliant and Piolo Pascual is great – he’s really deserving of his grand slam win. Director Gilbert Perez rises up to the challenge of the very difficult material. Whew! It’s not such a bad film after all. In fact, I appreciate all the hard work that went into the film, especially the creativity.
Actually, I am not sure how this big surprise will be received by most other viewers. Some may say wow, what a surprise! – and start applauding. Others though may feel like they’ve been had.
In my case, I salute the people behind it for the very novel concept. At least it veers away from the usual style of local filmmaking and dares to take a risk and be different. Of course, it has loopholes in some parts, but you just convince yourself to overlook this lapses because the structure is really quite complex.
Although it takes a while to recover from those irritating early moments, at least it will keep the audience’s blood pressure from rising when they see the big surprise near the end. And all throughout, it holds on to the viewer’s interest – yes, even in the annoying parts because it still draws emotions from the audience. In the end you will marvel at the films’ very novel and wonderful concept (Dreamboy is graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board).
Dreamboy’s most entertaining moment, however, is the closing credits – so don’t leave the theater yet (the last cameo appearance will bring the house down, I swear). An important word of advice: See this film from the beginning or you’ll never appreciate it.

hi mga kapuso! whatever happened to the controversy regarding ethel booba (about the sex video tape)? were they able to prove that it’s really her. if it’s true, i pity her coz she has totally lost her privacy. i dont think that she did it intentionally but a lot of stars, especially the famous ones, have been deprived of their privacy. one more thing, she was suspended by mtrcb for wearing revealing clothes, it’s not that i dont like her but i agree with the decision of the mtrcb for one thing her neckline had been too low to think na nasa primetime slot ang show niya (although hindi sya na-suspend sa excha kundi sa guesting niya sa all star k. i hope that next time, medyo taasan niya ang neckline niya. it’s ok if children are not watching but they are so sana hinay lang siya sa mga damit niya. by the way, hope that the scandal will not affect her standing sa gma management. mahigpit ang kapuso network di ba?

i was very much disappointed with the outcome of let the love begin. i was expecting that it would be a quality film considering the fact that GMA films had produced quality films before. but when i watched it last week… god!!! i almost dosed to sleep. masyadong pinahaba ang mga eksena at halatang pilit na nilagay ang mga iyakan scences. pangit talaga ang editing at halatang minadali ang pilikula. naging typical one of the cheap filipino movies tuloy sya. pangit ang pagkakadugtongdugtong ng mga scenes and very predictable at corny p ang iba.pinakacorny sa lahat ang scene ni tonton na inatake sa puso. god!!!! wala na bang maisip na bagong paraan ng pagkakaatake sa puso? the only relief in my part was to see the actors and actresses who indeed had given justice to their role. the casts are well picked. angel and richard are indeed the hottest love team in the philippine cinema. pero masnakakakilig at real ang kwento at mga scenes nina jen at mark. maiksi lang ang part nila pero kapanipaniwala ito. i also like gloria romero who put heart to the movie. tuesday and berwin are also good. sa totoo lang may mga scenes na nakakabobo… take for example yung ngbogdown ang computer ni angel. do you think na magbobogdown lang ng ganun ganun ang computer n wala ka manlang iniinstll na kung anonano. do you thingk magbobogdown ang computer kung nageencode ka lng? tapos mas iniyakan p nya ng grabe ang pagbogdown ng computer kesa sa pagkaatake ng papa nya. tapos nung nagsindi sya ng kandila… ang hiniling nya lang ang mameet ang saviour nya ah… bakt ng ngapasalamat sya ky gloria romero sabi nya natupad ang panalangin nay ehe d p naman ny namimeet ang sviur nya nun ah? naging boxoffice lang talalga ito dahil sa sikat ngayn ang apat na young stars. but please naman no… nageexpect kming mga fans ng gma na quality films tlaga to kasi ang gandaganda ng plugging nito sa tv. i hope this would be a lesson sa inyo. d ibig sabihin n kung block buster ang pilikula ok n… sana nxt tym give justice to the viewers. give ample time in editing the movie. wag madaliin… frustrating sa viewers kung pangit ang outcome ng movie na akala nila ang gandaganda. i hope na sa next films nyo ayosin nyo naman pra makacompete kyo sa starcineam na pulido pagmaggawa ng mga pelikula.

2nd, it was Richard Gutierez’s birthday bash w/c turned into a fighting spree party!
third, the alleged sex video of Ethel B. & her boyfriend.
& now, the interview of SexBomb Jopay by their reporters, was it willing or not!
they’ve been doing this eversince, probably to get back to GMA for the good ratings it’s programs got against theirs!
my fella kapuso, i know all of u are intelligent enough not to allow nor affect ur judgment regarding these lies and issues!

well, personally i like pancit. i dont know whether ur a kapamilya or kapuso (santo santito) but i agree with what u said na hindi dapat magbintang pero dont you find it weird na ang lahat ng nasa nega publicity ngayon ay puro gma stars? that thing with ethel and her boyfriend was a personal thing. it was their most private and intimate moment. i dont think n may pakialam pa tayo what happens between them in private. ang problema that private moment was turned into a video. ethel may wear revealing clothes but i dont think na ganon siya katakaw sa atensyon. she doesnt need this bec. she’s already popular. admitting that she’s popular on national tv is not a sign of kayabangan. it’s just the honest truth. sino bang tao ang hindi nakakakilala ngayon sa kanya? personally i dont know her, there are even times na taklesa siya sa excha but sa nangyaring ito i think she’s more of a victim than a culprit. some say na bakit pa sila gumamit ng gadget na puwedeng mag-record ng image nila while doing the deed, pero teka may mga taong iba ang hanap na thrill. that’s a fact and some may even condemn them but hey, this is reality. iba iba ang tao, iba ang traits and level of weirdness. sa palagay nyo ba kung hindi sikat si ethel ay bibgyan siya ng ganitong atensyon? there’s no denying she’s the woman of the hour. at sino ang lalong nagbigay ng atensyon sa kanya, e taga chanell 2 right?
look at lucy torres, she’s almost perfect. saintlike nga ang image niya tapos bintangan na klepto. this may be true, then again it may be not pero sino na naman ang mga taong nabanggit na involved sa pagkakalat ng balita? no less than karen davila ang ces drilon. taga-saan ba itong dalawang ito/ they denied it but still napasama sila sa balita. si mulawin boy sangkot din sa nega publicity, i dont judge him for what he did. tao lang si richard and he acted on his instincts although the self-control should have been there kaya lang may tao talagang makulit. minsan nakakapikon talaga. sikat siya kaya nabalita pero kung ordinaryong away tao ito at napaaway sa kanto di ganitong balita ang magagawa. kawawa naman.
sa mga ito hindi ba nakakabuo ka ng hinala that this may be caused by the rivalry between the two networks? i may be a kapuso but that doesnt necessarily mean that i will turn a blind eye kapag mali ang ginawa nila. the thing is mga hot property ng gma network ang nasa hotseat ngayon kaya people cant help but wonder kung sinisiraan sila ng kabilang network o hindi. ethel admitted na noong tinawagan siya ng reporters ng ch. 2 sinabi niya na hindi puwedeng i-air ang mga sinabi niya but still ginawa nila. is this responsible journalism? fight fair and the people will respect you. fight dirty and the people will turn their backs on you. ethel is correct in saying hindi dapat maging matalino para malaman kung ginagamit ka o hindi. the viewers right now are an intelligent bunch. i dont judge these stars, pare-pareho lang tayong tao ang iba lang sikat sila at tayo ordinary lang. sasabihin ng iba na sila ay role models kaya dapat malinis ang reputation dahil tutularan sila ng kabataan pero get real naman. they’re people and people make mistakes. sa mga taong ginagawan sila ng intriga out of pure malice and spite matakot naman kayo dahil sa inyo rin babalik ito. you reap what you sow. baka bukas sa kangkungan na kayo pulutin niyan.

—honestly, mas gusto ko kumain ng pancit, not because loyal akong kumain nito but because nasarapan talaga ako…i honestly see nothing wrong with preferring to eat pancit than spaghetti…poor analogy, mag-isip-isip ka nga ng mas kapani-paniwala jan…and if ur refering the “spaghetti” to abs shows, than to the “pancit” of GMA! well then, talagang i would prefer pancit na lang kc, hindi masarap ang spaghetti nyo, maalat at panis!
