Ninuno ko taga-Mars.
A giant patch of frozen water has been pictured nestled within an unnamed impact crater on Mars.
The ice disc is located on Vastitas Borealis, a broad plain that covers much of Mars’ far northern latitudes.
The existence of water on Mars raises the prospect that past or present life will one day be detected.

Rep. Manuel Waykurat Zamora’s kalamansi seedlings spread all over the halls of Congress were the symbol of triumph of the pro Gloria during the SONA. It definitely hid the peach roses of the other side.

But the fruit of the poor lemon

The peach roses reminded me of Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code.

SUB ROSA IS A RUSE. Peach or red or black, the color of the rose don’t matter– there’s no literal interpretation of color to signify action such as ‘impeach.’ The term ’sub rosa,’ under the rose came about as the flower was used as symbol of secret societies in the Middle Ages that plotted beneath the flower. Semiology or apt use of symbols isn’t exactly a strong point of Filipinos, thus the symbolic message comes across as out of whack.

The president’s SONA was the shortest so far, and probably the last. The TV commentator was wondering why the peach roses were replaced with green seedlings growing on black plastic containers. The peach roses accordingly, were a symbol for Arroyo’s resignation.
Perhaps it’s time to take the power from the center to the countryside that feeds it, Arroyo said, echoing Immanuel Wallerstein’s center-periphery theory. This is the same mantra that is being used in the network wars these days, although thwarted to accommodate one side’s agenda.
Agree ako kay Bikoy na di …

Every year, we meet on this day in this great hall to celebrate democracy and take stock of the nation: the country and its condition; the government and its performance; the people and their well-being.
Ours is a country divided; the story of our nation is a tale of two Philippines; almost, as it were, two countries under the same name.
One is the Philippines whose economy, after long years of cumulative national endeavor, is now poised for take off. The other is the Philippines whose political system, after equally long years …

On the occasion of the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola and the anniversary of the dedication of the Church of the Gesù, the Ateneo de Manila University and its community will bear witness to the blessing of an 18-bell carillon and the Angelus Bell.
A carillon is a musical instrument composed of bells (from a set of 9 to 37 bells) arranged in chromatic sequence and tuned to produce concordant harmony when sounded together. It is a special folk instrument that can be manually played, with the carilloneur (carillon-player) …
