Under the Rose

27 July 2005 No Comment

The peach roses reminded me of Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code.

SUB ROSA IS A RUSE. Peach or red or black, the color of the rose don’t matter– there’s no literal interpretation of color to signify action such as ‘impeach.’ The term ’sub rosa,’ under the rose came about as the flower was used as symbol of secret societies in the Middle Ages that plotted beneath the flower. Semiology or apt use of symbols isn’t exactly a strong point of Filipinos, thus the symbolic message comes across as out of whack.
