Speech Concerns
They just can’t say it right.

In Encantadia, he couldn’t deliver his lines in English. He was supposed to be a balikbayan. And it’s not just his English. He devours his words before anyone gets to hear them.

To me, all Englishes are legit, but when you try to act out a role, you have to sound like one. It’s just that Filipino actors have to know how to change their accents, too, to be more convincing. Let’s say, it’s hard to act like an Iloko when you sound like you are Bisaya. And the only convincing English on Philippine television or movies is the one with an American (California or New York) twang.
Even Cesar Montano has to take lessons in speaking in English with an Italian or Mexican accent to make himself marketable in Hollywood.
