I’m from Kalinga.

We, Kalingas, Do not Consider ourselves as an Igorot. The Only Provinces that consider themselves as an Igorot are Benguet and Mt. Province. Kalingas are Tall, mejo Dark, Matangos ang Ilong. Compared to Igorot who are Maputi. We are rich in Culture(well preserved) and still practices over centuries. I respect the Igorot for their culture, but we are not to be considered igorot dahil Cordillera Kami.

I would like to invite everybody on April 22, 2010 from 8:30am to 12:30 pm at the Baguio Convention Center to watch this documentary film about who the Cordillerans are.. Surely after watching this, you’ll be proud of your forefathers and yourself as well and will have a deeper understanding of your identity. It also would help to lessen the feeling of being hurt or insulted because you know those who say things against you, Igorot, obviously are pathetic for their ignorance.

wow, its nice to read a note like that… i am a pure blooded igorot also and im very proud of it.
as i read to the other comments of those ignorant people about igorot, it really hurts….. they’re making fun of us, like saying that we were “maitim, curly-haired,malaki ang bunganga, mangmang,etc”!!! without looking to their selves…. that in fact, this is not true…..i think we were more honored than them(low_landers)… actually, we were more beautiful and handsome than them, but it just a matter of “malaki ang legs”….. yeah because of being industrious, that we have to climb the mountain to reached our destination… huh mdamdama mka-aswa t igorot dagita da mang-in2sulto kanya tayo… ah.. nagswe2rte dan ngai nu kasta!!!! manigas sila….

It’s good to read people with Igorot blood are proud to be one! I’m also an Igorot 50%, Spanish 25%, and Ilonggo 25%. My father is a pure blooded Igorot migrated in Mindanao already. There are lots of Igorot descent in Mindanao also. Majority migrated from Northern Luzon. I have been researching this past few days what kind of people an Igorot is composed of take note of the Spanish and Japanese who colonized the Cordilleran mountains. Do you think we have these blood in our veins too???
