Twilight Dancers

BOLD actor Allen Dizon is challenged by the fact that he’s playing an aging macho dancer in Centerstage Productions’ “Twighlight Dancers.” He shares stellar billing with Tyron Perez and Cherry Pie Picache in this film about the personal tragedies and unusual friendship between two macho dancers.

Considered as the third installment in the Macho Dancer tradition (the other two are Sibak and Burlesk Queen), both Allen and Tyron get entangled in the web of Madam Loca (Cherry Pie), a scheming and manipulative underworld character.

The fact that it is megged by respected director Mel Chionglo is reason enough for Allen to immediately grabbed the offer.

“This is my second time to work with direk Mel. Working with him is always a joy. He is very supportive of his actors and he never loses his patience.

“Matiyaga siyang magturo at wala siyang sinisisi kung may nagkakamali. He also explains what he expects before a take,” Allen states.

Direk Mel, in turn, finds Allen very receptive.

“The role is an acting piece for him (Allen). He attacks his role in a subdued manner, is in complete control of his emotions and is very focused. He’s also able to control his tears in quiet scenes.

“I’m positive his acting will be noticed abroad when we field the film in the Toronto International Film Festival this September. His acting should also merit a nomination dito sa atin,” direk Mel adds.

Allen watched the films Macho Dancer, Sibak and Burlesk King in preparation for his role. He underwent an acting workshop and rigorous training in macho and ballroom dancing.

He ends up as a dance instructor to matrons in the movie.
