Sa Piling Mo: Judy Ann Santos and Piolo Pascual

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

Pinatunayan nina Judy Ann Santos at Piolo Pascual na sila ang pinakamalakas sa kasalukuyan na love team sa pelikula sa Don’t Give Up On Us.

All set naman sila na patunayan ang lakas ng kanilang tambalan sa telebisyon through their new soap coming up, Sa Piling Mo.

Isang araw siyang sumama sa trainer niya at work.

[source]

Komiks

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

from People’s Tonight by Nel Alejandrino:

So far, the komiks novels na nakatakda nang i-air include Inday Bote, Kamay ni Gilda, Hiram na Mukha, Machete, Family Tree, Nakagapos na Puso, Palimos ng Pag-ibig, Ang Paa ni Isabella, Agua Bendita, Vincent, Blusang Itim, Mam’yang Gabi, Condor, Talim, The Hands Adventure, Star Boy, Lightning Roda at Devil’s Car.

Ang magiging pilot nito on February 4 ay Inday Bote, starring reel-and-real life sweethearts Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo for the first time. Co-starring with them is Rafael Rosell.

She did her own interpretation daw of the role ni Inday sa tulong ng kanilang director na si Erick Salud.

70 dead, more than 300 injured

Gov’t could cancel ABS-CBN license

If the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) determines that the network was delinquent in providing enough measures to protect those who went to see its popular “Wowowee” noontime game show, its “authority to operate” could be suspended or even revoked, NTC Chair Ronald Solis said.

The NTC is the sole body with responsibility to supervise and control all radio and television broadcasting stations and other telecommunications services throughout the country.

Nene in Citzen Patrol

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

New reporter on TV Patrol World

After endearing herself to millions of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) viewers and supporters, PBB’s first big winner Jennivev “Nene” Tamayo now tests her mettle in news and current affairs as she joins ABS-CBN’s flagship news program, TV Patrol World.

Filipinos across the country—and from all over the world via The Filipino Channel—will get to see more of Kumander Nene’s headstrong character as she becomes the newest “Citizen Patrol,” reporting on and helping solve community problems in the show’s segment of the same title.

“Citizen Patrol,” TV Patrol World’s most popular segment, empowers the viewers by encouraging them to write in or txt their concerns and go on the air to report them on TV. Now with Nene on board for the segment, public interest takes center stage anew in TV Patrol World.

From community problems like garbage dumpsites and rigged weighing scales, to barangay concerns like stinking esteros or teetering electric posts, expect “Citizen Patrol” to explore solutions and take action.

“Citizen Patrol” will go nationwide this year, with Kumander Nene spreading its message of hope and positive change to key cities and far-flung areas alike. TV Patrol World airs weeknights on ABS-CBN, with Ted Failon, Karen Davila, and Julius Babao as main anchors. [source]

Maria Ressa and Noli de Castro

Sunday, January 15th, 2006

Straight from PEx:

MARIA RESSA, head of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.’s news and current affairs, responded last night to questions regarding the cancellation of “Magandang Gabi, Bayan.”

These were her comments:

On the statement of an Inquirer source that MGB was pulled off the air because Vice President Noli de Castro refused to go against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo:

“The statement is inaccurate in every way. First, [MGB] was not quickly pulled off the air. These negotiations went on for months.

“Secondly, MGB is Noli de Castro, and without him, it’s a shadow of its former self. We decided to retire the title as well because it’s so identified with him. I believe it’s time to come up with fresh ideas for that coveted prime-time slot.

“Finally, the paradigm behind the question is insulting because it presupposes that I make decisions in the newsroom because of the alleged vested interests of our owners. My track record shows what we are institutionalizing in ABS-CBN: excellent journalism grounded by a strong Code of Ethics.”

On the statement of an Inquirer source that De Castro was told to “help us or leave”:

“That is false. ABS-CBN News & Current Affairs has no vested interests in the outcome of political events. We report those events but we do not take part in any way.” (sana nga………may maniwala sa yo)

On the question of whether the cancellation of MGB would not be perceived as a political move given the present charged atmosphere:

“Anything can be perceived as anything! It was an organizational move, not a political one. That is the reality. Everything else is spin.”

The Inquirer tried to reach other top executives of the network but was unable to get their official statement. eh paano ……..baka magkakaiba na naman ang mga sagot…baka sumablay…tsk tsk tsk….

General Jarque and Plinky Recto

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

General Jarque and Plinky Recto — what do they have in common? A very influential lawyer. And gangster. And landgrabber. The ex-boyfriend. Plinky’s that is. Plinky’s ex-boyfriend (others call him the estranged husband) is the reason why General Jarque joined the communists.

Plinky Recto was once a Close-Up model and since her name ends with a Recto (big name, with a street named after it) she got some airtime in Philippine showbiz buzz but now enjoying her time as a Pilates instructor. Ralph, the senator and husband of Vilma Santos, is her brother. She has a civil case against her influential ex-boyfriend and now she’s back in the news.

Plinky found her courage to speak up partly with the help of Gabriela. After filing a civil case against Magdaleno Peña, she went to The Buzz to talk about some of the details. She never mentioned Pena’s name, but she did say something about Jarque’s case. The rest you have to check online, she says. It’s all over the net, so I had to compile them here.

The number of battered women in the Philippines is rising. They just found a new spokesperson with Plinky’s face.

Plinky and Pilates

Plinky spent another million to import equipment such as the Cadillac, Barrel and Ladder, Wunda chairs, and Reformer machines from California. “But the courier lost my machines weeks before I was to open, and I had to hire someone for three weeks to track where the machines ended up. The people from Sacramento thought the Philippines had only one port,” Recto says laughing. When the machines finally arrived, she had trouble getting them released because the government people had no idea how to classify them for tax purposes. [source]

Who is General Jarque?

Jarque headed the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division in Negros island in 1991-1992, and was credited with turning the tide against the communist New People’s Army guerrillas who had broad support among the rural poor.

In 1995, he surprised the public when he announced he decided “to go underground to wage revolution,” adding he had “come to understand and acknowledge the justness of the struggle … by my erstwhile foes.”

In 1996, Jarque served as a consultant for the NDF panel in the peace talks but became less active after the government and rebels signed an agreement on human rights in 1998. In 2001, he became a security consultant for the Philippine National Oil Co.-Energy Development Corp. [source ]

General Jarque sought the protection of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) after he was unjustly accused of crimes he did not commit. He became a consultant for the NDFP during peace negotiations with the Manila government in 1997. [source]

Jarque was acquitted after 12 years. The article below was published in June this year.

“I feel vindicated,” Raymundo Jarque, a retired brigadier general who defected to the New People’s Army, declared after learning that the Supreme Court and the Sandiganbayan acquitted him of the six cases filed against him more than 12 years ago.

Jarque, military affairs consultant of the National Democratic Front, was the military commander in Negros when sugar planter Magdaleno Peña filed the cases against him.

Doubting that he would get a fair trial, Jarque, who had served the military for 33 years, fled to the hills and joined the NPA. [source]

Ang Panday, nagsimula na

Monday, November 14th, 2005

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

The second part of the making of the tv series, Ang Panday will be shown today.

Jericho underwent a rigid training regimen which included wushu and other martial arts, horseback riding, sword-fighting and weight training. Caparas says, “I’ve seen the first few episodes. I’m happy to say that he is a worthy successor to FPJ, because while FPJ made the role legendary to several generations, Jericho is part of a new breed that can reach out to a new audience. I know that if FPJ were around to see the show, and Echo’s performance as the new Panday, he’d give a thumbs-up. Maybe even a double thumbs-up.”

Let’s see if Panday’s sword can crush “Encantadia’s” mystical powers in the ratings game.

Speaking of “Panday,” heard from an insider that Jericho’s leading lady, Heart Evangelista, is not so well-liked in the network because of some attitude problem. My source says, “She gets into this don’t-touch-me-I’m-a- great-actress mode.” Maybe she needs to have a heart-to-heart talk with her “Kapamilya,” lest her followers have a change of heart. [source]
