BOLD actor Allen Dizon is challenged by the fact that he’s playing an aging macho dancer in Centerstage Productions’ “Twighlight Dancers.” He shares stellar billing with Tyron Perez and Cherry Pie Picache in this film about the personal tragedies and unusual friendship between two macho dancers.
Considered as the third installment in the Macho Dancer tradition (the other two are Sibak and Burlesk Queen), both Allen and Tyron get entangled in the web of Madam Loca (Cherry Pie), a scheming and manipulative underworld character.
The fact …

Theme Song: In a Lifetime (Gary Valenciano)
August 2006 showing
[source: Philippine Journal article]
IPINANOOD sa amin ni direk Mark Reyes ang teaser ng Eternity at walang exaggeration, parang Age of Innocence, Dangerous Liaison at Sense and Sensibilities ang dating nito sa amin nina Pilar Mateo at Ambet Nabus.
Tama si direk na bagay na theme song ang In a Lifetime ni Gary Valenciano dahil mas gumanda ang pelikula.
Type na naman namin ang blurb nitong: “Two souls…two lifetimes…a second chance…to fall in love.”
Sabi …

Tipikal ang reaksyon ni Philip Cheah ng Singapore Film Festival na nakapanood ng pelikula:
“… The lead actress who is a fat lady is brilliant. The film is shot digitally with lots of handheld long takes. I think this is the best work of Jeffrey (Jeturian) since Pila Balde and Tuhog.”
Later this month, matutupad na ang pangarap ni Gina. Kumbidado ang Kubrador sa 39th Moscow International Film Festival, sa competition section, from June 25 to July 2.

When Kuh Ledesma (as Tiger Lily) and Bembol Roco (as Kumar) were cast in the Peter Weir-directed and Oscar award-winning movie “The Year of Living Dangerously” in 1982, Filipinos had their eyes glued on the two Pinoy actors. They were proud that their kababayans were doing an international movie.
Of course, way before this casting coup, there was Barbara Perez, dubbed during her time as the Audrey Hepburn of the Philippines, who co-starred with Jeffrey Hunter in “No Man is an Island” in 1962. It is said that after doing the …

Julia’s movie bags Argentina film award
Julia Clarete was excited and proud when she learned that the independent film that she co-starred in, together with Yul Servo, won a foreign award. The movie was entitled “Sa Ilalim ng Cogon.”
The movie bagged the “Best International Picture” award at the recently concluded Rojo Sanggre International Film Festival in Argentina.
Because she was in Los Angeles at that time, Julia, an Eat Bulaga mainstay, was surprised when she received the text that the film won.
And she was doubly surprised when the American audience recognized her …
